Two Years and Counting…
Today marks the second anniversary of Conciliar Post. Our editorial team would like to take this moment to commemorate all of the excellent work done by each and every member of this community. We want to thank you for growing with us, for journeying with us in faith over our second year. Perhaps most precious are the moments of earnest dialogue: comments sections filled with charitable questions and serious soul-searching; the welcoming of new authors and contributors into the fold; the bliss when someone is encouraged by our labors, and the offering of those labors to the God who gave all that we have received (1 Cor 4:7).
Even as discourse across the internet becomes more and more chaotic, fragmented, and polarizing, it a comfort to see in Conciliar Post a safe harbor, a place of respite, an intentional community where the old adage “think before you speak” is observed. We do not know what the future holds, but we do know that support for the project of unifying humanity in the love of God will never wane. As our “About” page puts it: “We believe that every human being is infinitely valuable and irreplaceable. Love is our standard, and Conciliar Post seeks to affirm the inherent worth of all people.” Love is the purest fruit of the tree we have planted; love surpasses all knowledge and transcends even our doctrinal disagreements. Ultimately, love overcomes pride. As a community, we show forth—even in our brokenness—visible signs of the hope that we are called to become one family.
“No one has ever seen God,” the author of 1 John tells us, “but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” Let us pray that God’s love will be made manifest in us, as we continue on this path as “fellow workers, fellow sojourners, striving to help each other along our way…”
